Devotional – Tuesday, Oct. 7

Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

Reflection:

Kentucky poet, Wendell Berry wrote,

“Whatever happens,
Those who have learned
To love one another
Have made their way
To the lasting world
And will not leave,
Whatever happens.”

Questions for reflection:

As the great call to fellowship of Christians is to love one anther with “brotherly/sisterly affection.” What is one experience that you have had in the church (or in life in general) when you experienced a love that helped you to “make your way to the lasting world?” How might you give thanks to God for the experience?

  1. There have been many of these moments at FPC, but one I clearly recall was following an evening choir rehearsal. I fell off the steps coming down from the choir loft (distracted talking to Doris Mac I think). I sprained my ankle, saw stars and was in some pain. It was reassuring to be surrounded by so many former nurses. After the initial intense pain was over, I remember that George and Jeannette Walker went far out of their way to drive me and my car home.
