Pastor: Carl Hilton VanOsdall ~ As pastor of the church, Carl enjoys leading worship, engaging with prayer groups, building relationships, doing outreach to the community, and listening for God’s voice, particularly around the question, “What does it mean to be the church in New England today?” Carl appreciates the collaborative work of Barre churches to address issues of hunger, homelessness, and to create community. Carl and his wife, Gina, have three children. In his free time, Carl enjoys coaching soccer, bicycling, reading, and family time. He is inspired by the writings of Thomas Merton, Barbara Kingsolver, Richard Rohr, John Green, Henry Nouwen, and Kathleen Norris.

Organist/Accompanist: Dan Krymkowski (and other occasional musicians)
Born and raised in the Milwaukee area, Dan Krymkowski earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison during the 1980s. Since 1991 he has been a professor of sociology at UVM, where his work focuses on social inequality. Music in a variety of forms has been an important part of his life since childhood, and for the past 16 years he has been the organist and choir director at Waterbury Center Community Church. Dan’s wife of 38 years is Rebecca Mueller, who is the director of the Richmond Free Library. Their daughter, Anastasia, is an actuary in Boston, and their son, Aaron, is an environmental scientist in Richmond. Dan’s ancestry is English, Polish, and Scottish (Fraser clan). Their youngest child is named Arturo, a gray Newfoundland. Dan enjoys beaches, bridge, and biking on rail trails.
